This week I made more calls for Sen. Bill Nelson’s reelection campaign, and Andrew Gillum’s gubernatorial campaign. I also called Sen. Marco Rubio and urged him to oppose Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation, in light of the credible accusation of attempted rape made by Christine Blasey Ford. I’ll repeat that call this week, as The New Yorker’s Ronan Farrow and Jane Mayer are reporting a credible accusation from another woman, this time when Kavanaugh was in college. For me, this was the most telling quote in their article:

The offices of at least four Democratic senators have received information about the allegation, and at least two have begun investigating it. Senior Republican staffers also learned of the allegation last week and, in conversations with The New Yorker, expressed concern about its potential impact on Kavanaugh’s nomination. Soon after, Senate Republicans issued renewed calls to accelerate the timing of a committee vote.

In other words, they wanted to push the confirmation through before this allegation could be reported, let alone investigated. Not a sign of innocence, in my book….
