Tonight’s question, greetings, and banter here. (More)
Today, as expected, Gov. Rick Scott (R-FL) announced that he’ll run for the U.S. Senate against Sen. Bill Nelson (D). Cook Political Report’s Jennifer Duffy calls the race a toss-up, largely because Scott will have a mountain of money behind him, but Reuters’ Sharon Bernstein and Chris Kahn report that educated, older, white voters are shifting to Democrats in numbers that could flip tight races, and Republicans are worried that the Senate may be their last bastion. And, also as expected, Sen. Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) had a baby girl, and became the first U.S. senator to give birth while in office. Can we give a big, warm, BPI welcome to Sen. Duckworth’s new daughter: Maile Pearl Bowlsbey?
