Tonight’s question, greetings, and banter here. (More)
Today The Federalist’s D.C. McAlister argued that God chose “flawed” Roy Moore to protect unborn babies from abortion, citing as evidence that the U.S. did not collapse after electing Catholic Democrat John Kennedy. Yes, really. Needless to say, Twitter had a field day with that nonsense. Also, wingnut media like The Daily Caller dredged up a fake sexual harassment scandal that both Rep. Al Green (D-TX) and his former lover Lucinda Daniels denounced as angry breakup accusations that they later withdrew. (Green and Daniels are now close friends.) Meanwhile, Axios’ Jonathan Swan and Mike Allen report on the “see saw” of Senate Republicans trying to finish their tax scam and FiveThirtyEight’s Perry Bacon cites 10 GOP holdouts, while Vox’s Ezra Klein lists five problems that conservative pundits find in the GOP’s tax scam. Yet those pundits – and Klein – wonder why Republicans didn’t write a better bill. When Republicans admit they wrote this bill to satisfy their wealthy donors, why don’t journalists take them at their word?
