Tonight’s question, greetings, and banter here. (More)
Today former national security advisor Michael Flynn’s lawyer met with special counsel Robert Mueller’s staff, yet more evidence that Flynn may be ready to testify against the God-King or others in his campaign and administration. That news came as Bloomberg reported that Flynn met with Turkish officials to discuss kidnapping Fethullah Gulen, a Muslim cleric who lives in Pennsylvania and has been an outspoken critic of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Meanwhile, Outhouse budget chief Mick Mulvaney showed up at the Consumer Finance Protection Bureau and claimed to be their new boss, but former deputy Leandra English also claimed the position under the 2010 statute that was crafted to ensure the CFPB’s independence. The God-King insists he has sole authority to appoint an acting director under a more general statute for federal appointments, but his legal argument was written by a lawyer who represented payday lenders before being appointed to the Office of Legal Counsel and Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) says the CFPB’s succession rules were written with exactly this situation in mind. And Sen. Rand Paul (R-TN) stumped for the GOP tax plan in a CNN column, but a new CBO report said the GOP plan will be even harsher for working families than previous analyses suggested. Will the God-King’s voters ever admit that he and Republicans are screwing them to pamper billionaires and big corporations?
