Tonight’s question, greetings, and banter here. (More)

Today five people including the shooter were killed when a gunman opened fire at seven locations in Rancho Tehama, California. At least one of the victims was killed at an elementary school and police say the gunman was “randomly picking targets.” Also, Buzzfeed reports that the FBI are examining at least 60 wire transfers totaling $380,000 from the Russian foreign ministry to embassies in the U.S. and other countries, and one of the transfers included the memo line: “to finance election campaign of 2016.” And Talking Points Memo reports that the Alabama Republican Steering Committee will meet later this week to discuss whether to withdraw Roy Moore’s nomination. But it’s too late to remove Moore’s name from the ballot and, if the state party withdraws Moore and he wins next month, the Alabama Secretary of State said the election would be void. Will Republicans move to void the election if Democrat Doug Jones wins, on the theory that a GOP candidate would have won had there been time to replace Moore?
