Tonight’s question, greetings, and banter here. (More)
Today Twitter announced they will no longer take ads from Russian propaganda outlets RT or Sputnik News and will donate the proceeds from past ads “to support external research into the use of Twitter in civic engagement and elections, including use of malicious automation and misinformation.” That was the good news. For the rest, House Republicans voted to authorize a $1.5 trillion tax giveaway to billionaires and big corporations through the Senate’s budget reconciliation process after Speaker Paul Ryan told Republicans to stop criticizing the God-King and focus on tax cuts for rich people. Meanwhile, Klanmaster General Jeff Sessions said it’s unconstitutional to prohibit discrimination against LGBTs because ‘religious freedom.’ And the God-King said Chinese President Xi Jinping is “a powerful man … a good person” and congratulated Xi after the Chinese Politburo declared Xi’s “thoughts on socialism with Chinese characteristics” to be part of the nation’s constitution. That came as China announced a program to publish personal ‘trust scores’ based on cybersurveillance records such as what citizens buy and who their friends are. Yep, that’s the kind of “good person” the God-King praised. Was Sen. Ben Sasse (R-NE) correct when he told Jonah Goldberg the GOP “has gone post-constitutional?”
