“Did you kick the air vent?” Tom asked.
Rhonda nodded. “Did they hear it?”
Midday Matinee is our people watching, people doing and people being feature. Join the Woodland Creatures for an afternoon break.
Welcome back to Tuesday’s Tale, a weekly feature where we collaborate to write a story. Previous Tuesday’s Tales include Sy Atica and Café Noir. Two floors below, Art turned to Ben. “Did you hear that?”
“Like a hollow thump from over there,” Ben said, angling his head toward the far wall.
Art turned so his high-definition digital night-vision helmet cam faced the wall. “I don’t see anything. Ask it a question.”
“Are you here?” Ben asked.
Two floors above, Tom listened to his headset and nodded to Rhonda. “Once more.”
“Y’know,” Rhonda whispered as she kicked the air vent again, “this is supposed to be reality TV.”
Two floors below, Ben’s eyes widened. “It happened again.”
“You heard it too?” Art asked.
Two floors above, Tom chuckled. “Oh please. What’s real about two guys spending the night in an abandoned asylum?”
Rhonda shrugged. “The straitjackets?”
Two floors below, Ben looked at the Carrie. “Can you turn off the camera for a minute? I need to pull my arm out of this thing and scratch my nose.”
