Tonight’s question, greetings, and banter here. (More)
Today Democrats launched a full-blown freakout over Jon Ossoff’s narrow loss in reliably Republican Georgia U.S. House District 6, never mind that Ossoff ran 6 points better than expected in that district and that Democratic candidates have, on average, run 8 points better than expected in the four special elections of 2017. Esquire’s Charlie Pierce wrote that Ossoff lost because – duh – Republicans still vote for Republicans, no matter what, and No More Mister Nice Blog’s Steve M. said that’s because the right-wing media is very good at demonizing any Democrat. And Lawyers, Guns, and Money’s Scott Lemieux spotlighted the one, simple reason that Democrats have gone 0-4 in special elections: every one of those elections was in a reliably-Republican district. Are you tired of the circular firing squad?
