This week geese staged an airstrike on Disneyland and Binky the Cat foiled a would-be burglar in Indianapolis, but a New York appellate court denied human rights to chimpanzees because they wouldn’t be legally competent to stand trial. Meanwhile, a New Jersey woman fell through an open sidewalk door because she was focused on her cell phone but her injuries were not life-threatening. And also in the Garden State, a man fled an auto accident with a fire hydrant stuck to the front of his car. Police followed the trail of dripping water to the man’s home. But a chimpanzee isn’t legally competent?
