Jon Ossoff has the God-King worried in today’s Georgia special election, plus other stuff…. (More)

“Super Liberal Democrat”

That’s how the God-King described Ossoff in a tweet yesterday:

Ossoff is leading the pack in today’s special election for the U.S. House seat formerly held by Secretary of Health and Human Services Tom Price. But he’s running against six other Democrats and 11 Republicans and would need at least 50% of the vote to win outright today. Most polling puts him in the low- to mid-40% range, so he’ll more likely face a runoff against the top GOP candidate.

Republican voters will surely rally around their candidate, but FiveThirtyEight’s Nate Silver still gives Ossoff a 50-50 shot in the runoff. And he’s definitely campaigning against the God-King:

And he has the resources to win:

Ossoff can afford to blanket local television in part thanks to the millions of dollars that have poured into his campaign from individual donors all over the country. Dozens of volunteers from outside the state have also come to Georgia to spread his message. Ossoff recently landed on the cover of New York Magazine, which called him “The Trump-Hate Weather Vane,” and stories have also appeared in Time and The Atlantic. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has put ads on Atlanta radio featuring the actor Samuel L. Jackson, a Morehouse alum. (“We have to channel the great vengeance and furious anger we have for this Administration into votes at the ballot box,” Jackson says in the spot.) Meanwhile, the actress Alyssa Milano, currently filming a project in Atlanta, drove Ossoff supporters to vote early during her downtime.

So make some calls to Georgia today.

Oh, and the God-King loves him some authoritarian strongman-ism:

President Trump called to congratulate Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Monday after a referendum greatly expanding his powers, despite a more circumspect State Department response to Sunday’s vote, which international election observers declared unfair.
Trump’s comments differed in tone from those of the State Department, which urged Turkey to respect the basic rights of its citizens and noted the election irregularities witnessed by monitors with the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe. The United States is a member of the OSCE.

I bet the God-King would have been first in line to congratulate a certain someone on the 1933 Enabling Act. Just sayin’.

And he’s not just cracking down on undocumented immigrants. He’s going after the documented ones too:

President Trump will sign an executive order on Tuesday that aims to overhaul the H1-B visa program used by tech companies to bring high-skilled workers to the U.S.

Trump will travel to a manufacturing plant in Kenosha, Wis., to sign the order, which the administration says will make it more difficult for U.S. companies to look overseas for workers to fill middle-income jobs.

At a background briefing with reporters, senior administration officials described the current H1-B visa program as a lottery system that indiscriminately hands out work visas to contracting firms that recruit low-skilled, low-wage workers to replace working-class domestic laborers.

They say a new system is needed to ensure that the program returns to its original purpose of bringing in high-skilled, high-paid workers to fill more specialized or technical roles.

In fact that’s exactly what the H1-B program already does. Most H1-B workers have advanced degrees and training, and earn more than the average wage for their fields. What’s more, many have gone on to found very successful companies that create far more jobs than the 85,000 H1-B visas issued each year.

So this is just more of the God-King’s nativist white supremacy.
