“Happy New–” Ed began as he walked into the office.

Bob glanced up. “–Don’t. Even.”

Midday Matinee is our people watching, people doing and people being feature. Join the Woodland Creatures for an afternoon break.

Welcome back to Tuesday’s Tale, a weekly feature where we collaborate to write a story. Previous Tuesday’s Tales include Haul the Deck and Real Ghostwives of Bigfoot County. We follow the basic rules of the “Yes, And” improvisational game – accept everything written so far as part of the story, and add your own paragraph (or so) where the last addition left off – except you needn’t begin your addition with “Yes, and.” I’ll start the story….

Ed’s voice dropped to a whisper. “I thought the party was New Year’s Eve?”

“That’s when it started,” Bob grumbled. “Then Ann said we should go visit Carla and Dave.”

“Uh oh,” Ed said.

“HAPPY NEW YEAR!” Carla and Dave shouted in unison as they strolled into work looking as fresh as daisies.

Bob groaned.

Ed put a finger to his lips. “Shhh. He hasn’t recovered yet.”

“Wow!” Carla said in a voice that was by no means shhh-ed. “And we spent all night preparing–”

“–our 2017 Master Plan!” Dave boomed. “You gotta see this, boss. We’ve got it all figured out!”

Bob steered his eyes toward Dave. “Oh. Really.”

Have fun!
