Wow. If I saw the sculpture without any label, I would have guessed it was a Christmas tree. That’s partly because he mounted it upside down, and partly because he cast it in aluminum so it’s bright and shiny.
“Ant colony” would’ve been at the very bottom of my list of guesses. If it was on the list at all.

It’s amazing how intricate the nests really are. You just don’t get a feel for that when you look at them from the outside.
