Tonight’s question, greetings, and banter here. (More)
Today Donald Trump’s son admitted the real reason his father won’t release his tax returns, saying “Because he’s got a 12,000-page tax return that would create … financial auditors out of every person in the country asking questions that would detract from (his father’s) main message.” In other words, he admitted his father’s tax returns would be politically damaging, possibly in many ways, and the secretive Trump campaign wants to avoid the withering media scrutiny that has bedeviled Hillary Clinton. And while Trump said he wouldn’t release health information if it were negative, his campaign manager fed the narrative that Clinton should have released her pneumonia diagnosis immediately. Trump’s son also said he’ll continue to run the Trump Organization if his father is elected, but insists he wouldn’t deal with foreign leaders, which is central to the Trump Organization’s business model. With polls still tightening, can Trump win simply by dribbling out enough information to fill a chyron while the media demand ever more “transparency” from Clinton?
