Tonight’s question, greetings, and banter here. (More)
Today the House Select Committee on Benghazi released their final report and, despite their breathless introduction, the 800-page report from Republicans’ two-year, $7-million investigation found no new evidence of wrongdoing by Hillary Clinton. Of course that didn’t stop wingnuts from hyping the report as proof of “malfeasance and nonfeasance,” as Benghazi myths have become yet another right-wing alternative reality. Media Matters’s Eric Boehlert explains how the media were willing tools for conservative conspiracy mongers and the Huffington Post declares that “House Republicans Spent Millions of Dollars … to Exonerate Clinton.”
Meanwhile, the Washington Post’s David Fahrenthold reported that, contrary to his hyperbolic claims, Donald Trump had given not a penny of his own money to charity during the past eight years … until forced by the media to fulfill his $1-million pledge to veterans. Indeed all of ‘his’ recent ‘charitable’ gifts have been free rounds of golf at his courses and similar promotions, offered to charities and groups that do business with his clubs and hotels. Would Trump’s tax returns show that he “lives in a very high tower built from gold-plated styrofoam Jenga pieces?”
