Today a CBS/New York Times poll found Hillary Clinton’s lead over Donald Trump ‘slipping’ from 10 points to 6. But Steve M. reminds that Barack Obama trailed Mitt Romney by 3 points in polls four years ago this week. Meanwhile, GOP leaders are falling in line behind Trump, and the Democratic National Committee will offer Bernie Sanders seats on a key platform committee and other concessions at the convention. The Washington Post’s Philip Bump explains that the ongoing Democratic primary may be driving poll fluctuations.
