Last night was the birthday party for my 5 year old granddaughter. What a great break from politics and terrorism! (More)
Midday Matinee is our people watching, people doing and people being feature. Join the Woodland Creatures for an afternoon break.
J is the youngest of three kids. She worked the “Birthday Girl” privileges to the max for a couple of days. It got to the point that her brother asked how long this birthday girl special treatment was going to last.
I asked her what she would name her new cousin to be if it was up to her. Her aunt and uncle were coming to the party and I thought they’d love her input on names. Jewel was her choice for a girl and Kevin for a boy. Kevin is one of the minions from Despicable Me, in case you didn’t know. J did a fine imitation of Kevin by grabbing a hat and a piece of wood and showing us how Kevin played golf.
She has a fairly accurate understanding of babies being in their mother’s belly until it is time for them to be born. She peppered her aunt with questions. “Is the baby kicking?” “Can you feel it?” Her aunt gave short and factual answers and J would wander off and return later with more observations and questions.
Later J came and stood by her aunt and placed her little hand on her aunt’s belly. She leaned over and said, “Hurry up Kevin, we’re all waiting for you.”
Lucky Kevin that so many people are waiting to love him or her.
