Today Vox’s Ezra Klein critiqued Bernie Sanders’ single-payer health care ‘plan,’ calling it “a gesture towards a future plan” that promises “puppies and rainbows.” Mother Jones’s Kevin Drum was more complimentary, but Paul Krugman’s criticism was withering and asked the key question: with so many other progressive priorities – from climate change to criminal justice reform – why attempt a Quixotic do-over of President Obama’s signature policy? Are the media finally starting to vet Sanders, rather than treating his candidacy as vetting Hillary Clinton?
