Welcome back to Tuesday’s Tale, a weekly feature where we collaborate to write a story. Previous Tuesday’s Tales include Weather or Not and The Intersack. We follow the basic rules of the “Yes, And” improvisational game – accept everything written so far as part of the story, and add your own paragraph (or so) where the last addition left off – except you needn’t begin your addition with “Yes, and.” I’ll start the story….
“Yes, really,” Crystal said, pointing to her screen. “Look. It says right there. ‘Download the software for free!'”
“Hrmm,” Dana replied. “Okay, try it.”
Crystal clicked the button and watched the scroll bars creep across her screen.
“Is it working?” Dana asked a half-hour later.
Crystal nodded happily. “It’s installing.”
“Still?” Dana asked.
“Yes, still,” Crystal said. “It’s a big, complex program. Ahh, it just finished.”
Dana shrugged. “So start it up.”
“I just di–” Crystal began.
“What?” Dana asked.
Crystal pointed to her screen. “It shut down. It says I need more memory and a new graphics card.”
Dana crossed her arms. “Free, huh?”
