Yesterday’s carnage in San Bernardino was the 355th mass shooting so far this year. Something must be done, and I expect the NRA to propose the Personal Responsibility and Individual Crime-Killing (PRICK) Act…. (More)
Yesterday at least two shooters left 14 people dead at a county government awards ceremony in San Bernardino, California. The good news is they were Muslims so, while the man worked there and stormed out of the ceremony after an angry altercation, this was obviously a “jihad attack.” Plus ISIS sympathizers praised it on Twitter, so it had to be terrorism.
Unlike the white Christian who killed four people Friday at a Planned Parenthood clinic. That was just “a tragedy” about “mental health.” Never mind that he had attacked another clinic before, because “Planned Parenthood is the real culprit” in that attack. If that group didn’t exist, then white Christians wouldn’t have to plant bombs and set fires and kill people who work there. Besides, they do too sell baby parts, even if state investigations have proved they don’t. So it doesn’t matter that the gunman quoted a phrase that scores of right-wing pundits and politicians have trumpeted over the past four months. In fact, even mentioning that is “typical of the left … demonizing a messenger because they don’t agree with the message.”
Plus leftists excused Muslims after 9/11 so they should excuse Christians after the Planned Parenthood shooting. And there were Muslims cheering after 9/11, maybe not “thousands,” but “who cares” about the numbers? Only the “drive by media,” and Real Americans™ ignore them. That’s why Trump keeps winning.
But I digress. The point is we’re not even trying to reduce mass shootings. Well, we keep praying but God withdrew His hand of protection because we let gays and lesbians marry. Even President Obama agrees:
“The one thing we do know is that we have a pattern now of mass shootings in this country that has no parallel anywhere else in the world,” the president said. “We should never that think this is something that just happens in the ordinary course of events because it doesn’t happen with the same frequency in other countries.”
“There are some steps we could take, not to eliminate every one of these mass shootings, but to improve the odds that they don’t happen as frequently,” he said.
Damn right. For starters, we can get GunTV on the air. And we can repeal the ban on interstate gun sales, so Gun TV won’t need the cumbersome process of placing an order in Louisiana to be shipped to your local gun store. After all, Gun TV will be part of the Social Responsibility Network. Why should you need all that legal rigmarole to be socially responsible? And what could be more responsible than selling guns on TV from 1-7am … until they build an audience to stay on the air 24/7.
But we can do more. And we must.
Now, I’ll admit I’ve never met any of the leaders at the NRA or Gun Owners of America. But they’ve never met me either, and they think they know me well enough to call me a Nazi or a socialist. So I think I know them well enough to say they would support this new law:
Bill name: Personal Responsibility and Individual Crime-Killing Act
Short name: PRICK Act
WHEREAS: The U.S. suffered 355 mass shootings from January 1 to December 2, 2015; and
WHEREAS: After every mass shooting, politicians rush to microphones with proposals to restrict the God-given right to bear arms; and
WHEREAS: The only way to stop a bad man with a gun is a good man with a gun; and
WHEREAS: Americans should assume personal responsibility for their own protection; therefore
RESOLVED that no defendant shall be convicted of a violent crime unless the state can prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the victim accepted personal responsibility for self-defense. For purposes of this Act, “personal responsibility for self-defense” shall mean that, at the time of the alleged crime, the victim was:
(1) carrying a loaded firearm; and,
(2) there was a round in the chamber; and,
(3) the safety was off; and,
(4) the victim’s finger was on the trigger.
AND WHEREAS: Federal, state, and local law enforcement budgets are overstretched; therefore
RESOLVED that, unless the state can prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the victim accepted personal responsibility for self-defense as defined above, the victim or his/her family shall:
(1) reimburse the city, county, state and/or federal government for all costs arising from the investigation of the incident; and,
(2) reimburse the defendant for legal fees and other damages arising from the incident.
This is America, dammit, and Real Americans™ are ready to shoot back – or better yet, shoot first – all the time and everywhere they go.
Sure, we might see a few more shooting deaths at first, until the bad men see that the good men are locked-and-loaded all the time. And there might be a few accidents and such. And some murderers would walk free, at least until they tried to kill someone who accepted personal responsibility for self-defense. But as Papal legate and Cistercian abbot Arnaud Amalric said at Béziers: “Kill them all. God will know his own.”
Can I get an “Amen?”
