Please share your stories of political activism here. (More)

This week I tried to set politics aside and celebrate Thanksgiving with family and friends. That lasted until Friday evening, as news emerged of the attack on the Planned Parenthood clinic in Colorado Springs. Everyone here seemed torn between competing impulses. We wanted to follow the developing story, yet we also wanted preserve what had been a wonderful holiday atmosphere. We finally settled on some of each: watching the news for an hour or so, until they reached the limits of what authorities knew, then switching channels and lighting our Christmas tree. As Herself put it, “We need to know what’s happening, but we don’t need to stew in it.”
