Welcome back to Tuesday’s Tale, a weekly feature where we collaborate to write a story. Previous Tuesday’s Tales include To Be Determined and Back to Scruel. We follow the basic rules of the “Yes, And” improvisational game – accept everything written so far as part of the story, and add your own paragraph (or so) where the last addition left off – except you needn’t begin your addition with “Yes, and.” I’ll start the story….
“We’re not exactly sure,” Lighter said. “But this is where stuff ends up when people lose it. Like keys and gloves and earrings and spare batteries.”
“Hi!” Keys said.
“Nice to meet you!” Right Glove added.
“You’re cute,” Left Earring said with a twinkle.
“Always happy to meet new things,” AA, AAA, and D agreed in unison. “Where were you before you got here?”
“Wow, what a welcome,” Pen said. He turned to the batteries. “I think I was in a desk drawer. Or maybe one of those upright caddies on top of a desk. I don’t think I ever made it to a purse or pocket.”
“It wouldn’t have mattered,” Keys said. “I was supposed to be in a pocket but I was left on a table in a burger joint. I smelled like grease for days.”
“Then he met me,” Deodorant said with a proud smile.
