“You’ll be great, honey,” Linda said as she gave Elizabeth an extra kiss for luck.
“Yes, she will,” Elizabeth’s phone agreed. (More)
Midday Matinee is our people watching, people doing and people being feature. Join the Woodland Creatures for an afternoon break.
Welcome back to Tuesday’s Tale, a weekly feature where we collaborate to write a story. Previous Tuesday’s Tales include Paddle Boats and Her Majesty’s Day. “All ready?” Elizabeth’s car asked as she climbed in.
“I think so,” Elizabeth replied.
“She’s nervous,” her phone told her car. “So is the house.”
“Why is the house nervous?” Elizabeth asked.
“Once you get this job,” her phone said, “Linda wants to redecorate the living room.”
“She does?” Elizabeth asked as the car started.
“That’s what her phone told me,” Elizabeth’s phone said. “The house overheard.”
“Two-eighteen North–” Elizabeth began.
“–North Rising Street,” her car said. “Linda’s office gave me the address. The place you’re going is one of its cousins.”
“Ahh,” Elizabeth said. “Same builder?”
“If it were the same builder,” her car explained, “they would be siblings. Linda’s office was built by the sister. Her brother is also an architect. His company built your new office. So the offices are cousins.”
“It’s not my new office yet,” Elizabeth said. “I may not get the job.”
“Oh yes you will,” her phone said. “I’ll take good care of you.”
