Tonight’s question, greetings, and banter here. (More)
Today the FCC voted to classify broadband internet as a public utility, scoring a landmark victory for net neutrality advocates. The Washington Post’s Phillip Bump explains why “Net Neutrality” trumped the GOP’s “Obamacare for the Internet,” and Common Dreams’s Rashad Robinson calls it “civil rights history in the making.” Republicans are already warning of a U.N. takeover of the internet, while AT&T concern trolled about litigation (because they plan to sue). Did you join the net neutrality party featuring two llamas and the entire internet?

Well, except for the llamas. 🙂
It’ll be interesting to see the battles over this, since Comcast’s fee-fees are hurt. What makes it worse from their standpoint is that the FCC is redefining “broadband” as well, setting the definition as 25mbps or greater, which is much higher than most of them offer. So now, they only have “high speed internet.” 😀
If you missed #LlamaWatch, do catch up. For a brief, shining moment, the entire internet united around two llamas giving Maricopa County Sheriff’s deputies the slip. I can’t think of a better way to celebrate true net neutrality. 🙂
I love the lasso the llama catch! I’ve always wanted that rope that could hold a loop like that. Childhood fantasy!
I wish someone would take over the GOP. The UN would be fine with me. 🙂
