Today the media responded to the NSA’s Christmas Eve document dump in response to FOIA requests from the ACLU. Hundreds of pages detail incidents of wrongly gathering Americans’ email and cell phone data from 2001-2013, almost all of which were technical or clerical errors. But some were LOVEINT, NSA employees illegally spying on romantic partners, while others were improper surveillance of foreign targets inside the U.S. As even Sen. Rand Paul (R-TN) helped block reforms last month, will a GOP-led Congress rein in the NSA?
