Today Sony said The Interview will open in some cities on Christmas Day. The film is a comedy about the murder of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un that was linked to the hack of Sony Pictures’ computers. Theaters in Atlanta and Texas said they will show the film, and some members of Congress want it shown at the Capitol, while Sony hinted the movie may be released in video-on-demand. CNN reports President Obama applauded the release, and star Seth Rogen said “Freedom has prevailed!” By accident or design, is this the best pre-release hype ever?
