Today the NFL said officials should not have penalized Kansas City Chiefs’ defensive back Husain Abdullah, a devout Muslim, for sliding into a prostrate prayer after returning an interception for a touchdown in last night’s win over the New England Patriots. Many reporters and bloggers noted the contrast with celebratory prayers by Christian players like former quarterback Tim Tebow, which are never penalized. But ‘Carl in Jerusalem’ thinks the NFL bowed to political pressure and is “coddling Muslims.” Did game officials make an innocent mistake?
