This week I attended my county Democratic Executive Committee meeting. One of our county’s major festivals happens later this month, and we will conduct a candidate petition drive along the parade route. We staged a brief training skit on how to solicit petitions and handle common objections. Our local candidates will be there as well, and our clubs will staff a table throughout the two-day festival. For Democrats in red or purple states and counties, one of the most challenging tasks is simply to be visible in the community, and establishing a regular presence at county and city fairs and festivals is an important part of voter outreach.
