Today the Boston Beer Company, who brew the Samuel Adams brand, said they will not participate in Boston’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade this year. This comes after the Boston Globe reported that an LGBT veterans’ group rejected an offer from the parade’s sponsors that would have required them to conceal their sexual orientation. The parade organizers called the LGBT vets’ application a “ploy” to enter the parade “under false pretenses.” Will the withdrawal of Boston Beer and other sponsors force the organizers to acknowledge the 21st century?
