The U.S. Justice department has brought fraud charges against USIS, the firm that ‘vetted’ Edward Snowden. A former employee of U.S. Investigative Services filed a whistleblower lawsuit against USIS, saying the company routinely faked security background checks. The fraud involved at least 665,000 investigations – about 40% of the total number the company conducted, prosecutors allege. Will Republicans cite USIS as another example of why private businesses are more efficient and effective than the government?
