Tonight’s question, greetings, and banter here. (More)
Today a Gallup Poll reveals that 85% of Americans are still proud to be Americans. That number peaked at 92% in 2002, fell to 81% in 2007, and has slowly risen since. Yet Politico leads with the flip side: that 71% say the Framers would not be pleased with the U.S. today. As the Washington Monthly’s Ed Kilgore notes, most of those are conservatives, 81% of whom say the Framers would be “disappointed” with the U.S. We can’t know what the Framers would think, as they’re dead, but we can ask each other. Are you proud to be an American today?
