After a day of protests yesterday, today the Egyptian military gave President Mohammed Morsi 48 hours to reach an agreement with his opponents and implement constitutional rule. Also, Reuters reports that Edward Snowden has applied for asylum in Russia, even as the New York Times reports that President Vladimir Putin said Russia will not grant asylum unless Snowden agrees to stop releasing classified documents that harm U.S. interests. Does this sound like Sen. John McCain’s “back to 1955” U.S.-Russia relationship?
