Tonight’s question, greetings, and banter here. (More)
This week Buttercup the duckling got a 3-D printed replacement foot. His previous foot and turned the wrong direction and was surgically removed. Also, Wall-E the wallaby went walkabout. Grand Prairie, Texas police had to keep him contained until animal control could return him to his owner. And a black bear broke into the Knoxville zoo, forcing zoo rangers to wake up the four resident (and grumpy) bears to count noses. The infiltrator exfiltrated without a trace. Are your local wildlife enjoying wild lives?

Morning Feature – Welcome to Derpica (Non-Cynical Saturday)
Yes, it’s true. A bear broke into the zoo. A witness reported a bear climbing over the zoo fence … going in. The zoo rangers woke up the resident bears – who weren’t happy because, well, they’re bears and they need their naps – to be sure the witness hadn’t seen one of them. Nope, all four (now awake and grumpy) resident bears accounted for. So the rangers went looking for the new arrival, and found no sign of him/her anywhere.
Maybe it was … ::cue dramatic music:: … the Ghost Bear…. 😯
As for Wall-E the Wallaby, umm, who has a wallaby as a pet? Just sayin’.
Great story about Buttercup the duckling. Don’t miss it. 😀
A yearling wolf wandered through the beach area today when I was down retrieving canoe paddles. Three women were down there chatting. The wolf looked at us, stopped, stared and nodded his head. He then trotted off into the woods. One of the women asked me if there was an up charge for seeing a wolf. I told her no but that if she wanted to she could stop by The International Wolf Center and make a donation.
It was a banner day at the campground! A real treat!
I saw the report of the bear breaking in. Well, I guess if he was on his “seek new territory,” a nice safe hangout with plenty of food must have seemed inviting to him. Not to mention all the stuff left behind by the zoo visitors. 😉
Our wildlife is damp, but OK. We aren’t seeing any chipmunks this year, whereas last year they were all over the place. Tough winter, I guess. I’ve seen a few deer and a coyote, lots of sign around here, but not as “out in the open” as they were last year. More food for them in the woods, I guess.
The rain held off most of the day around here, except for a few sprinkles. However, the lake has been rising steadily, so the dam gates are now at 2/3’rds open, which we hope will start it dropping. Opening them all the way is … a lot of work and not something calculated to make the people downstream think kindly of us.
Rusty the Red Panda escaped from the National Zoo on Monday. Tweeter sighting tracked him leading to his return.
Our hummingbirds are wild about our feeder. All you gotta do is keep it supplied with sugar water! IDK if that’s really good for them or not, but they are pretty little buggars…… 🙂
