This week I attended my county Democratic Party steering committee meeting. In many states and counties, the steering committee is comprised of the Democratic Executive Committee officers, chairs of the DEC’s working committees, and chairs of local Democratic Party clubs. Steering committees typically place issues on the agenda for DEC meetings, vote on DEC expenditures, coordinate projects involving multiple working committees, and the like, helping to focus full DEC meetings on the information precinct leaders need and activities that involve them directly.

We also held our first full Voter Outreach Committee meeting, including our newly appointed Hispanic outreach and VoteBuilder training directors, and our Precinct Development Committee chair. We are preparing for a busy summer of registering voters, enrolling Democratic voters in Vote By Mail, and building GOTV teams and tools for the 2014 elections and beyond.
