Today a Fox News reporter asked why the White House doesn’t control criminal investigations, prompting Press Secretary Jay Carney to reply “Seriously? It is entirely appropriate that criminal investigations conducted by the Department of Justice be independent of the White House – of any White House.” Meanwhile, Attorney General Eric Holder scolded House Oversight Committee Chair Darrell Issa (R-CA) in hearings on Labor Secretary nominee Tom Perez, saying of Issa’s conduct: “It is unacceptable. And it’s shameful.” Will push-backs help end the witch hunts?
