“I really think we need the 20 kilowatt generator, dear,” Frank said. “What if I need to do home improvements?” (More)
Midday Matinee is our people watching, people doing and people being feature. Join the Woodland Creatures for an afternoon break.
Welcome back to Tuesday’s Tale, a weekly feature where we collaborate to write a story. Previous Tuesday’s Tales include The Worst Reporter Ever and Still the Worst Reporter Ever. We follow the basic rules of the “Yes, And” improvisational game – accept everything written so far as part of the story, and add your own paragraph (or so) where the last addition left off – except you needn’t begin your addition with “Yes, and.” I’ll start the story….
Note: Today’s characters were introduced in Beaned by an Angel.
“Home improvements?” June asked. “During a hurricane?”
“Well sure,” Frank said. “We don’t know how long the power might be out. If I need to fix something, I’ll need my power tools. And we’ll need the washer and dryer, in case I get dirty fixing whatever it is. And the vacuum cleaner for the sawdust. Plus the stove and refrigerator and microwave.”
“And my computer,” Niles added. “Don’t forget that, dad.”
“Should I buy a sewing machine to make us new clothes too?” June asked.
Frank paused. “You’re right, dear. We should look for a 25 kilowatt generator.”
“Do they make one that runs on sardines?” Niles asked, looking at the case stacked atop the six pallets of bottled water on their hand truck.
“Now there’s a thought,” Frank said. “A 25 kilowatt, biofuel-powered generator. That’s what we need.”
“Or a sanity check,” June muttered.
