“Mayor Ludlow’s office, Terri speaking. How can I help you?”
“Hi Terri, this is Emily from Fish and Game. Was there a dinosaur attack scheduled today?”
Midday Matinee is our people watching, people doing and people being feature. Join the Woodland Creatures for an afternoon break.
Welcome back to Tuesday’s Tale, a weekly feature where we collaborate to write a story. Previous Tuesday’s Tales include Indepen-squatch Day and The gPhone. We follow the basic rules of the “Yes, And” improvisational game – accept everything written so far as part of the story, and add your own paragraph (or so) where the last addition left off – except you needn’t begin your addition with “Yes, and.” I’ll start the story….
Terri frowned and looked at her desk calendar. “I don’t have anything on the natural disaster schedule for today. Why?”
“I have a guy on hold from the Bleak Vista neighborhood,” Emily said. “Cars squashed, buildings flattened. It sounds a lot like Crocosaur again.”
“I see,” Terri said, pushing papers aside to lift the page. “Hrmm. She’s not due until mid-July.”
“It is July,” Emily said.
Terri slapped her forehead. “Oh duh! I’ve been too busy to turn the page. The magma from the volcano has cooled and we’ve had developers in here every day asking for permits.”
Emily laughed. “I know the feeling. We’ve been flooded with families wanting to camp out before the next full moon. You know how thick the werewolves are in August.”
“Worse than the mosquitoes,” Terri agreed with a heavy sigh. “But I have good news. The Astrodons called to confirm. They’ll be invading on Thursday.”
“Uh oh,” Emily said. “Isn’t that the same night as the vampire uprising?”
