Also, Congress ratified the Treaty of Paris ending the American Revolutionary War (1784), Denmark and Sweden traded Norway and Pomerania in the Treaty of Kiel (1814), Roald Amundsen’s expedition made landfall on the Ross Ice Shelf (1911), Norway claimed Queen Maud Land in Antarctica (1938), NBC’s Today show debuted (1952), the Human Be-In took place in San Francisco (1967), and Margrethe II became Denmark’s first queen since 1412 and the first Danish monarch not named Frederick or Christian since 1513 (1972). And the “five cross flag” returned after 500 years as the official flag of the Republic of Georgia (2004).
