Smartypants offers a brilliant essay today titled I’d like to introduce Glenn Greenwald to Reinhold Niebuhr. Worth reading in full, her response to Greenwald’s most recent article defending Ron Paul discusses the tension inherent in “taking on the world as it is,” including “the realities of power, coercion and evil in the world.” Is idealism less about advocating ideal solutions than whether and how we struggle with challenges that have no ideal solutions?
