Last week Senate Republicans blocked President Obama’s nomination of Richard Cordray to head the Consumer Finance Protection Bureau. Senators Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and Lindsay Graham (R-SC) admitted Cordray is qualified, but said Senate Republicans will block any nominee until the 2010 Wall Street Reform Act is rewritten to give Congress budget and oversight authority over the CFPB.
