Tonight’s Campus Question
Back in 1989, Florida banned dwarf tossing: the barroom ‘entertainment’ of hurling little people across a room. Florida Republican state representative Ritch Workman has filed a bill to repeal the ban, calling it “Big Brother government” that “prevent[s] some dwarfs from getting jobs they would be happy to get.” Workman says he is “on a quest to seek and destroy unnecessary burdens on the freedom and liberties of people,” but talked to no little people before filing his bill. Should “freedom” include the right of the foolish or the desperate to be abused by the drunken and the cruel?
