Senate Democrats broke a filibuster last night, convincing eight Republicans to support a $7 billion stand-alone disaster relief bill. The bill now moves to the House, where Majority Whip Eric Cantor (R-VA) has called it “unprecedented,” but drew criticism from Republican Governors Bob McConnell (VA) and Chris Christie (NJ) for saying any new funding for disaster relief should be offset by other spending cuts. Will House Republicans pass the Senate’s stand-alone disaster relief bill?
