A federal judge found key parts of a new Texas anti-abortion law unconstitutional. The law requires requires doctors to describe the results of a sonogram and make the image and a fetal heartbeat recording available to patients at least 24 hours before any abortion. The judge ruled that violates the First Amendment by mandating “ideological” speech “regardless of medical necessity.” What are this ruling’s implications on other informed consent laws?
