The National Institutes of Health (NIH) finally released its report classifying formaldehyde as a carcinogen. The report was delayed until after David Koch left the NIH board, fueling speculation that his business interest in Georgia Pacific, one of the country’s top producers of formaldehyde, had led to the delay. Is the credibility of the NIH damaged by including executives from industries whose products are being evaluated on it’s board?
