Tonight’s Campus Question
Once again, the West hopes to convince Afghan farmers to give up growing poppies and grow something else like pomegranates, wheat and grapes. Opium poppies are hardy, require less water and have a guaranteed market that pays in cash. Will the new initiatives to change the crops have any more success than the initiatives from years past?
