Tonight’s Campus Question
The law firm of King & Spalding withdrew from its agreement with House Republicans to defend the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) saying that the “process used for vetting this engagement was inadequate.” Lamda Legal claimed the withdrawal as a victory for LGBT rights. Former Bush solicitor general Paul Clement resigned from the firm saying “defending unpopular clients is what lawyers do.” Does every ’cause’ deserve a defense?
