Today’s output from Blogistan Polytechnic Institute’s state-of-the-art HEMMED (High-Energy Meta Mojo Elucidation Detector) machine is a moment of serendipity: the confluence of English and French.
For the past 5 weeks, I have been recommending that everyone put down their keyboards and go outside to enjoy what little is left of summer. I have been counting the minutes of daylight that have been lost to add a sense of URGENCY.
And I have been counting the weeks in French to
show how continental I am help us learn new things.
Today six is six (although as you can see, French people pronounce it differently).
A 5 week recap:
– Last week: Go Outside and enjoy being Offline
– July 31st: Go Outside and enjoy being Offline
– July 24th: Go Outside and enjoy being Offline
– July 17th: Go Outside and enjoy being Offline
– July 10th: Go Outside and enjoy being Offline
Keep in mind that I am not even here. I wrote this on Sunday, August 8 and Scheduled it to post now. Not only that, but I duplicated the original post so as not to strain any of my blogging parts (no, you cannot see them).
Here is your minutes-lost update:
The Summer Solstice was on June 21. Since then we have lost
10 19 31 45 1 hour and 1 minute1 hour and 16 minutes of daylight. By the end of August we will have lost nearly 2 hours of daylight…one in the morning and one in the evening.
Depressed yet? Don’t be!!! The ebb and flow of daylight is a cycle and on December 21st the light will start coming back again. Sorry. That probably didn’t help.
It is not too late to enjoy the summer and the daylight.
Here is the “order”. I am going to make it a standing order for the rest of the summer.
Set your keyboard aside and get outside and do some things:
1. Take a walk with your family
2. Ride your bike
3. Kick a soccer ball around in the park
4. Play catch with your kids
I have been advertising all summer that my Saturday hiatus will end on September 4th. However, after thinking about this for the last few days, I have decided that ending the series with the confluence of six and six has a certain je ne sais quoi.
So starting next week, Saturday HEMMED In will return with original content.
Happy Saturday to everyone! And fist bumps.
Return to HEMMED In three days a week on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday for more output from BPI’s state-of-the-art HEMMED (High-Energy Meta Mojo Elucidation Detector) machine.
