Tonight’s question, greetings, and banter here. (More)
In his second inaugural address, President Obama grounded progressive government in American idealism, declaring that “preserving our individual freedoms ultimately requires collective action.” Paul Krugman praised the president’s agenda as “The Big Deal,” and The Atlantic‘s James Fallows said the address “made news and alters politics in a way I had not anticipated.” After the inaugural, President Obama looked back over the crowd and said “I’ll never see this again.” What was your reaction to President Obama’s address?

The entire inaugural, from the invocation to the parade, was a moving display of our nation’s diversity. I think President Obama’s address was the finest of his career, a soaring proclamation of progressive ideals as quintessentially American. we’ll discuss it a lot more later this week in Morning Feature, as President Obama went to the core of what “We the People” means and who “We the People” are.
