Tonight’s question, greetings, and banter here. (More)
Last Friday, RedState writer Ulysses Arm argued that Speaker John Boehner couldn’t negotiate his way out of a wet paper bag, and called for Speaker Boehner to be replaced by Allen West or “acceptable alternatives” Sarah Palin, Scott Walker, or GOP Reps. Louie Gohmert (TX), Michele Bachmann (WI), or Jim Jordan (OH). Although the Constitution does not require the Speaker to be a House member, every Speaker has been. With the far right in what Salon‘s Joan Walsh calls “full-on meltdown,” should the Frustrati sue for patent infringement?

From the Joan Walsh linked article:
Amen to that.
I laughed at the diary at RedState. Any of the diarist’s proposed candidates for Speaker of the House are giant steps in the wrong direction for the Republican Party and for the future of the country. As hilarious as I found some of the diarist’s writing, this is really about serving all of our citizens. The frustrati are ambidextrous. The fringes on each side need a long time out.

Here lies the remains of the Republican Messaging Genius meme. Some progressives spend way too much time in awe of the GOP, talking about how Republicans are Evil Masterminds with Jedi Mind Tricks that hold Low Information Voters in thrall … while Democrats are incompetent amateurs at best or kabuki theater sellouts at worst.
If Republicans are such messaging geniuses … why did they lose the popular vote in 5 of the past 6 presidential elections?
We Democrats need to keep doing well what we do well: working to protect hardworking families. If we do that well, it won’t matter what Republicans say … and we can pass the popcorn as they melt down.

One of the stories I saw elsewhere of a place we should be looking at is Virginia. Apparently there, the Republican Party decided to “double down” when it comes to being “conservative,” hence Cuccinelli is the candidate for Governor. Any “moderation” is being chucked out, which gives a very nice contrast – and a chance to thump the crap out of them in an election – because they’re ignoring the changing demographics of the state.
Seriously, the wingnut Right are in full blown denial mode. They really, really believe that the reasons they lost are because they weren’t “pure enough,” and didn’t “communicate adequately.” Why yes, I will have that extra helping of schadenfreude to go, thank you!

There is also a not so secret weapon in play, the Democratic Party of Virginia Chair Charniele Herring.
