Campus Question – December 7, 2012

Tonight’s question, greetings, and banter here. (More)

Today the Bureau of Labor Statistics said the economy added 146,000 jobs in November and unemployment dipped to 7.7%, its lowest level since 2008. Or, as AEIdeas‘ James Pethokoukis put it, “Another nasty, ‘new normal’ month for US workers.” Also, Change.gov said President Obama’s inaugural committee “will not accept contributions from corporations.” Or, as Politico‘s Donovan Slack put it, “President Barack Obama will accept unlimited corporate donations for his Inauguration.” Which sources are actual news?

It’s not often that you get a story as completely wrong as Politico did with the Presidential Inaugural Committee. Just after Change.gov – the official transition website of the Obama administration – released a press release saying they will not accept any corporate donations … Politico comes out with a story saying the Obama administration will accept “unlimited” corporate donations for the inauguration.

As for Pethokoukis, he never has anything positive to say about the economy unless he can give Republicans the credit for it. As long as President Obama is in the White House … the American Enterprise Institute thinks all economic news must be bad. Period.

Obviously the BLS and the President’s inaugural committee are real news from the horse’s mouth so to speak.

AEI and Politico got their ‘news’ from the other end of the horse.

It’s always … interesting … to see Republicans trying their best to paint things as “bad news,” despite the fact that most people see it as good news. I tend to believe Change.gov more than anything Politico has.

      Well, Change.gov is the official Obama transition site…unlike Politico’s unnamed sources…. ;)
