Tonight we hope to learn who will be the next President of the United States, as well hundreds of U.S. Senate, U.S. House, state legislative, state ballot initiative, and local elections. (More)

Polls begin closing at 6pm ET in parts of Indiana and Kentucky, with polls in most Eastern Time Zone states closed by 8pm ET. Most Central Time Zone states’ polls close at 10pm ET, and all but Alaska’s will have closed by 11pm ET. What states and races will you be following most closely?

    VT called for Obama. KY, IN called for Romney. VA, other East Coast states still too close or too early to call.

    One thing to remember when watching the tallies – particularly the early results – is that the rural (and likely more Republican) districts are going to report in first.

    MA, CT, MD, ME, RI, DE, IL, D.C. called for Obama. OK, AL for Romney.

    FL-Sen called for Bill Nelson. CT-Sen called for Chris Murphy. Both Democrats. :)

    WI, PA, MI for Obama. Romney’s paths to 270 getting very thin….

    As of 9:15, the Associated Press had called the following states for Obama: Maine, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York, Delaware, District of Columbia, Maryland, Rhode Island, Illinois and Vermont. The states called for Romney were: North Dakota, Kentucky, South Dakota, Georgia, Wyoming, Texas, Kansas, Nebraska, Louisiana, Alabama, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Indiana, South Carolina, West Virginia

    Virginia reporting long lines and high turnout. Just finished voting in Dumfries at 11:00pm.
